The ComTAK Process is an innovative patented process for treating heavily contaminated metallic wastewater. Frederick Douglas has five patents for the Advanced Catalytic Wastewater Treatment Process located in the United States, Canada, South Africa, Australia, and Chile.
Frederick worked with Mountain Watershed Association (MWA) to implement a pilot on-site treatment system. The innovative process is now installed in the field and has maintained a 99% removal rate of both aluminum and iron from the Rondell Discharge Site.
We received a Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP) permit in 2020 for use of its catalyst in treating the AMD stream at the Rondell Site. We submitted a proposal in conjunction with the MWA to PADEP and received a Growing Greener Grant to develop the pilot project of the ComTAK process.
The ComTAK process can treat AMD of various contaminant concentrations in a smaller footprint area as compared to the current operating passive and active AMD treatment systems in Pennsylvania. Needing minimal area requirements, the treatment system has been designed to be portable and installed on-site, thus providing a solution to treating AMD on-site.
